Η Διαστημική Διοίκηση των ΗΠΑ επιβεβαίωσε ότι τα συντρίμμια εισήλθαν ξανά στην ατμόσφαιρα του πλανήτη περίπου στις 19:45 ώρα Ελλάδος (12.45 μ.μ. ET), χωρίς ευτυχώς να «προσγειωθεί» σε κατοικημένη ζώνη.

Συγκλονιστικά βίντεο αναρτήθηκαν στα μέσα κοινωνικής δικτύωσης από χρήστες που βρίσκονται σε σημεία του πλανήτη, από όπου έγινε ορατή η στιγμή της εισόδου των συντριμμιών στη γήινη ατμόσφαιρα. Πύρινες «μπάλες» φάνηκαν να διασχίζουν τον νυχτερινό ουρανό και μετά να χάνονται στο βάθος του ορίζοντα.
